I have experience with a local Dynojet tuner, he did my Thunderbird, and I have no experience with these other tunes except for when I bought a PC5 for the Tbird, the tune supplied by Dynojet was woeful but it was only a starting point. I understand that car manufacturers have way more to spend on development but that is not the concern of the consumer.Īnyway I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I will have to solve the problem and yes I got a reply from the chap who I've been dealing with and he stuck to the corporate response but did include a paragraph that said more or less what you said re outside tunes without accepting any liability. Every modern engine designer knows that they have to meet these regulations and most, especially in the motor car industry succeed with producing a properly performing engine. Thanks for that John, I guess why I have persisted with trying to get Indian to solve their issue is the fact that it pisses me off spending good dollars and receiving a sub standard performing engine, then having the manufacturer blame epa regulations, a convenient solution for them. Therefore, most of the above is relevant to the standard warranty period only.

I have been out of warranty for quite awhile, so no problem anymore. However, I 100% recognise that this is a matter of. My summary of risk has landed me in the space of wanting a better running bike, with a sense of little to no risk of the various tunes loaded over the years being responsible for any likely engine damage that would invoke a warranty discussion/argument. Indian (and now MCA) have never mentioned anything about the 'foreign' tunes that have been loaded. The bike has been in for all the normal servicing (and a flash for a parasitic draw on the battery), so therefore the ECU has been connected to the mother-ship at least 3 or 4 times. I bought a Fuel Moto PVCX at the same time I got the SF (2017) and have had a tune from them (and several from CraigB) on board for over 4 years. I reckon if it was an issue that the Indian rider community had to genuinely worry about, it would be all over those forums. That isn't to say that it hasn't happened, I just haven't heard of it happening. I haven't heard, in any of the 3 forums on which I am a regular contributor (2 in USA), of anyone who has had an issue with warranty - as the result of a tune that ostensibly makes the bike run better. Hence - I have had numerous tunes loaded over time. So, after 16months of going around in circles with my shitty throttle response, Indian will keep me dangling until September, then it will be my problem. I asked about these tunes whilst the bike is under warranty and got the standard reply which basically says that if you have an engine failure and Indian can point to the outlaw tune as the culprit ( they will try their hardest) then you're on your own.
